Wakefield Support Group For Autism
This page updated Wednesday 24th. January 2008.
Apologies for being partly "off line" until today.
We were "hacked into". This coincided with my laptop failing (where the master copy
of our website is retained).
An important news item just put up on our "news" page.
We are the support group for autism in the Wakefield area. Our membership is drawn from
the Wakefield Metropolitan Council area, also the immediately neighbouring parts of other authorities, for instance
Dewsbury in Kirklees. A few members live more distantly, perhaps these are former
Wakefield residents wishing to remain informed?
There are other, neighbouring support groups. In time we will list them here on these pages,
together with their
links and contact names. Groups that immediately come to mind are our very good friends the Huddersfield
Support Group for Autism, also The Leeds ABC, the relatively recently formed Dewsbury Group
and, of course the Barnsley Support Group.
Group Patron: Dr. Simon Baron-Cohen,
Professor of Autism Research,
University of Cambridge.
