Last night our committee held a meeting and elected some new officers for our group.
As soon as we have full details they will be posted here and included into our next group newsletter.
For many years our monthly group meetings were help at what I believe was called "The Social Services Social Club" at Wood
Street, WAKEFIELD.
For those with limited memories or newer members we helpfully have a photograph here on the right;-
Well, I'm told this building is soon to be demolished. No, I really don't know why or what is to replace it
\either.
Last night's return to Alphabet Zoo soft play area went very well indeed - I'm told. We used to meet
there several years ago, but returned last night as Cheekee Monkees, our venue for these intervening years have lost interest in our
group booking, preferring to finish early.
Fifteen children, including two from another Wakefield group (Downs Support) and many more parents came last night and
reportedly enjoyed their early evening. I'll put details of the next meeting up on our "Activities"
page soon - look out for it in our next newsletter too!
I'm quoting directly here from a letter written by Rachel Daw, she is the co-ordinator of the home break service at
Leisure Link Services for our local authority. She says;-
"To Autism - Parents Support Group.
Once again WMDC Family Services are running a summer playscheme for children and young people with special needs -
organised by the Home Based Break Service.
I have enclosed a letter for parents and carers. This gives details of the dates and venue
of the scheme together with an initial registration form.
If you have any queries, please give me a ring on 01924 304151. Otherwise I would be very grateful
if you could distribute a copy of this letter to parents / carers who have children / young people with special needs
aged between 5 - 16 years, who are resident in the Wakefield area.
Thanks you very much for your help."
If you click on this link;- FORM the form she mentions will appear.
I've had big problems getting this page "to work". It seems to be ok now, just that we've lost our content for the past 12 months. Anyhow, it's working again now.
With my old computer I lost our access codes, our web hosting company would not reply to my many letters requesting them. Therefore it's been months and months since I could alter or amend this, our group site. We're back now and I'll try to keep all this lot up to date.
